“Kites”

I really want to write on ‘friendship’ or ‘relationship’ for a while but not getting the right words to get my thought s across. So writing on a different subject … “Kites”. I watched the movie the very first day. I have done it for the first time in last 15 years. After moving to USA it was just so hard as not any theater playing any Bollywood movie. Days have changed. There are more than 1 theater in the town which play Indian movies. You will find listing online, in the local news paper. Coming back to “kites”…I have been waiting for this movie ever since they make an announcement about making one.

Yes, the movie did not get any good reviews but I LOVED the movie. Think of it is the old recipe with new and better presentation. All acted well. Chemistry is good between those two and slick direction. Songs, done well. KK rocks too with ‘zindagi, do pal ki’ and ‘dil kuon yeh mera’ (Hirtik TRIED singing (kites, in the sky)for the first time and should be the last time…) Of course I watched the remix version made for US so not sure how slow it gets in Indian version, as at times it felt like that in remixed version. And totally agree there were a couple of glitches (Kabir Bedi: las Vegas ki government meri jeb me hai…O, Come on! No body is going to buy that! And the way Hirtik fools American police …no way!) in the story line but yet beautiful made move.

So what if it is a remake of old hindi move (not disclosing name here for those who have not watched it, it would spoil it for them) and Hirtik is attacking back critics with the similar dialogue which director of that old movie used for good remarks. So old movie director said “we have been giving Idli Dhosa, now that we give Dal-chawal we knew people would like it”. And this is what Hirtik is telling this. So what it is a copy cat, ‘nakal me bhi akkal chahiye’. Deep love has been depicted so well. I would say it is a must watch movie for those who have been in love (‘in love’ is different from ‘loving somebody’. So if you never fall in love, might not understand this) Passion shown so nicely.

First scene of the movie talks about kites and why this movie is named “kites’. When the movie ends you will know it is well justified.

Go with no expectation whether it is a bollywood flick or made for western people…just take it as it comes while watching and I assure you, you will enjoy the romance.

🙂 Yours must be the one of the few positive reviews of Kite 🙂 Most people have been very scathing in their comments on the movie.

True Smitha, for some reason i just liked it so much! I was so surprised when it failed.
Same thing happened years ago when ‘rup ki ramni choro ka raja’ came out. I loved it and it was a super flop.
